Kaffi Progress

Her progress that needs to happen before the 9th:

I am more worried about getting all the sculpting stuff done over getting the colors in. coloring would be mostly a bonus. Her legs will be sculpted at least a little to look like the tights. Right now shes missing her eyes (I messed them up so I am going to put them back in, easy fix) eye patch and her skirt piece. those will be modeled and added. then she will be posed after some sculpt fixes and detailing.

QUICK in the last few mins fixes (fixed the shirt thing and her legs a little

Fun With Story Boarding

So as I couldn't get onto maya today I went ahead and played around with some more story boarding. My initial idea from last week got changed a bit because I felt it was to much like I was trying to right a 5 minute short story rather than a piece that could be incorporated into a story as a cinematic piece. I decided to go the route of "end of game" cinematic even though the piece I am doing doesn't actually belong to a specific game and is based on the characters themselves. In this I was looking at multiple cinematic sequences from the very dramatic trailer style to simpler in game ones. I chose to draw inspiration from Final Fantasy 9's Ending Cinematic and wrote a demi-love scene. I wasn't able to think up anything epic or earth shattering for the time being and decided since I am more worried about camera than story itself for the thesis I was alright with it being more simple than having explosions and a cut every two seconds. Also, I want to take all moving cameras and try to simulate them in motion capture.

LittleBitoThesisWork

So I was working on trying to come up with some storyboards for my Camera Thesis. Sadly my original idea of using the motion capture studio as my environment seemed sort of bunk because I really didn't feel that using the idea of "the motion capture space introduction shot" really got a good cinematic feel. So instead I spoke with Brian Salisbury today about changing it to a more story line based cinematic. I like this idea better. So what I am doing now is a story based on the character I designed First semester based off Magna Carta - Crimson Stigmata. (Shes being edited some right now - face and feet and such).  This is also the character I made for Amanda to use in her MoCap work.

So now I have made a small base Storyboard that I will develop into a real storyboard sometime over the weekend so I can get serious work on putting together the camera sequence.

Poe Is almost done

GOALS FOR POE:

Concept

  • Basic concept of the idea

Model
  • Stylized Penned Model to be rigged (Rig will be done by Natalie Burke)
  • Face, Hair, and Base will be all solid pieces
  • Game Asset
  • Bronze Shader will be applied when it is in vision.

So after a lot more problems than should have ever happened Poe is in engine and shiney!

My plans for the rest of the week involve making sure the textures are good and working on the presentation for being put in a portfolio. Also I need to work on polishing the simple concept sketch I made of him.

I would say he is probably 95% complete and just needs to be polished. Currently he is a higher poly mesh because I was making this for Natalie to use a pre-created rig for. Later (after the 11th) I might take this and find a more low poly solution for him.

COMPLETED GOALS:

Concept

  • Basic concept of the idea
I will probably edit it some anyway

Model
  • Base mesh has been exported to work in vision.
  • Textures have been applied and shader that involves specular
  • Spec, simple diffuse, normal

Outside of My Assignments

So this is totally off topic from the 3 required pieces.  Amanda asked me to make a character for her, I went back to my original character design from Semester 1.  Not terribly sophisticated and not a lot of time has been spent on this, but this is where I am so far so that she can work on it asap. Still need to give her a head and some sort of idea of hair.  Amanda wants to rig this character. She is supposed to be "cinematic" res, and is about 7000 polys currently....I will probably drop her into my thesis scene as the character that the camera will focus on.
